CLAY COUNTY 250:

MORE THAN A CELEBRATION

In 2026, America will mark the 250th anniversary of its founding — a once in a generation moment to reflect on who we’ve been, who we are, and who we want to become. Clay County 250’s our local expression of that national milestone. It’s more than a celebration. It’s a call to embrace our collective, unvarnished history — the triumphs and struggles, the forgotten stories and familiar names — and become part of writing the next chapter.

The Clay County 250 Organization will inform, inspire and involve civic groups, schools, libraries and local governments in meaningful and memorable commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of our country’s founding.

“We are not just reflecting on history; we are creating history. Let’s do so with pride and admiration for what has been accomplished and, more importantly, for what will be
achieved.”

Cassandra Coleman
Executive Director, America250PA

“This is not just a celebration of the past; it’s an opportunity to shape the future. Let’s make sure every narrative, every perspective, and every story finds a place in our commemorations.”

Patrick J. Burns
President & CEO, Metro Philly Management, Chairman of the America250PA Commission

“The commemoration is about
allowing people to see themselves as part of history-making and to recognize the power of collective storytelling.”

The Honorable Dr. Carla Hayden
Librarian of Congress

“We wanted to build a museum that acknowledges our shortcomings but remains hopeful and forward-thinking. The American Revolution is not just a war; it’s an experiment in democracy that continues today.”

Dr. R. Scott Stephenson
President & CEO, Museum of American Revolution
